Gretsch G6136-55 Vintage Select Edition '55 Falcon Hollow Body Electric Guitar, Vintage White
Take a look at this Gretsch G6136-55 Vintage Select Edition '55 Falcon and tell us this isn't one of the coolest things you've ever seen. Some guitar designs simply stand out from the rest and naturally pull you in with its charm, you just know it'll be a sweet ride. With this Select Edition '55 Falcon reissue, you can experience the Falcon as it was envisioned by Jimmie Webster in 1955. Webster initially designed the guitar for the '54 NAMM Convention trade show, the model was so popular that Gretsch decided to put it into production for the following year. This made in Japan reissue model pays excellent attention to detail and delivers the Falcon in all its original glory.
The hollow body is constructed from a solid spruce top and laminated maple back/sides. These tonewoods paired with 2.75-inch body depth and parallel tone bar bracing deliver a deep, balanced sound with lively projection. The body and f-holes are wrapped in gold sparkle binding and feature gold hardware to accent the vintage white finish. Strings are loaded through the iconic Cadillac "G" tailpiece and make contact with the Synchro-Sonic bridge before being strung to pitch with the Grover Imperial Die-Cast tuning machines at the Falcon style headstock. The body is completed with its gold plexi pickguard displaying the gold Gretsch logo.
Meeting the body at the 14th fret, a "U" shaped maple neck is glued into the body with a traditional set-neck design. The neck is topped with a ebony fingerboard that has 22 medium jumbo frets and mother of pearl humpblock with feather engraving inlays. The fingerboard radius is 12-inches, great for both lead runs and fretting chords.
No Gretsch is complete without TV Jones pickups. For this example, Gretsch has loaded the neck amd bridge with a set of TV Jones T-Armond single-coil pickups to deliver that signature Gretsch sound. With the addition of the "Squeezebox" capacitors, the pickups offer transparent, crystal-clear tone, letting the guitar speak for itself. The versatile volume 1, volume 2, tone, and 3-way position toggle switch control layout allows for easy sonic exploration.
Complete with its deluxe hardshell case, the Gretsch G6136-55 Vintage Select Edition '55 Falcon is dressed to impress.
