Bringing together this effortlessly cool color with the Custom Shop’s Relic finish treatment results in an ice-cold aesthetic with an implied lineage of love, as per the tasteful dings, dents and scrapes. This Fender Custom Shop piece embodies Tele character with excellent design and craftsmanship.

This Fender Custom Shop ’63 Telecaster begins with a two-piece alder body shaped in the iconic Tele single-cutaway form. This specific alder’s Custom Shop Relic finish allows for a multi-dimensional experience as it exposes some of the wood’s base grain through scrapes and chips along the faces and curvatures of the body. Totally, this Custom Shop’s Aged lacquer finish is impressive and authentic.

This Custom Shop’s two-piece alder matches with a riftsawn maple neck shaped in a 60 Style Oval “C” profile. Spanning the back of the neck, one can see and feel an unfinished Relic back that reveals visually and tangibly this guitar’s riftsawn maple with a unique feel in the palm. Playing from lower to higher registers, this Telecaster’s neck imparts an up-close-and-personal experience. This Custom Shop’s riftsawn maple meets up with a 9mm AAA rosewood fingerboard adorned with twenty-one frets. A common and comfortable pick, 6150 Medium Jumbo fret wire forms this Tele’s set of frets for articulate playing across the fingers along with a 9.50” radius. Vintage Clay facedots and sidedots punctuate frets along the entirety of the scale. A Tele style headstock tops off the neck with a set of Vintage tuning machines bearing the Fender logo. Across the neck, this Telecaster measures .820” at the first fret and .890” at the twelfth fret for a close and consistent feel in hand running up the length of the neck.

Sonically, this Custom Shop Telecaster comes to life with the addition of two unique Telecaster single coil pickups. In the neck position, this Tele bears a hand-wound Twisted Tele neck pickup. Alongside, a hand-wound OBG “Original Blackguard” bridge pickup assumes the bridge position. These pickups come to this guitar mounted to its body and summon classic Telecaster single-coil tones with iconic Fender twang. This Custom Shop piece is outfitted with a set of fine materials and hardware appointments to enhance this unique experience even further. A Telecaster 58-65 bridge lands at the base of this guitar, matched with a 1.65” bone nut at the other end for stable intonation and precise playing. This Telecaster ships with a Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster/Telecaster Black hardshell case.
